Make a face scrub with natural ingredients from your kitchen

Natural skin care doesn’t have to be pricy. Make a great face wash or scrub with ingredients right in your kitchen cabinet! If you have sensitive or very-dry skin, Lumiere recommends the oatmeal, sugar or plain yogurt recipes here.

Suga Suga!

Mix with olive oil or almond oil. Pour one fourth cup of sugar into a bowl, add a little less than half a cup of olive oil. Rub into the skin, rinse with cold water.

Oatmeal

This a great gentle exfoliant for sensitive skin. Take 3 tablespoons of oatmeal, add a bit of warm water, and wait for 5 or so minutes until the oats soften. Then massage onto the face and rinse.

Yogurt

Make a calming and cool face mask with yogurt. Rub onto the face and then rinse. If you’re looking for something a bit more exfoliation, you can make a yogurt-based face scrub by adding sugar or baking soda.

Lemon

For a cleansing face rub, add a few drops of lemon to a bowl of warm water and rub. You could also add a few drops of lemon to any other mixtures listed here. If skin feels dry afterward, rub the skin with a bit of olive oil or oil-free, non-fragrant lotion.

Salt

Regular salt’s consistency is great for a gentle face scrub. Pour one fourth cup of salt into a bowl, add a little less than half a cup of olive oil or honey. Rub into the skin and rinse.
