Rock the at-home workout

Long story short, you don’t need a fancy gym to start working out.

Go ahead, rock the home workout with these easy steps.

Designate a space your “gym space”

It could be a corner of your room, your basement or even a section of your living room. Declare it your personal gym space. This is where you will do your workouts once or more a week.

Make a list of exercises

Search online for home exercises or workouts you can do at home. Print them out or jot a list down. An example set:

15 sit-ups

30 jumping jacks

10 push-ups (assisted or regular)

20 high-knees

15 squats

repeat 2-4 times

Make a list of pump-up music

This one’s easy. Listen to a fun playlist on Spotify, Pandora or make an iTunes playlist.

Get your equipment

All you really need is some music, a pair of sneakers and comfy clothes.  If you have a yoga mat, use it! A towel works fine in its place. Oh and don’t forget a bottle of water.

Put it in your schedule

Literally, mark it in your calendar as you would a doctor’s appointment or birthday party. Start off small, say once a week. But keep your word on it.

Outside works too

If you’d rather workout outside, go for a quick jog or brisk walk as long as it’s not dark out. Safety is important, so be sure to tell a parent, sibling or friend where you’re going out for a run.Take your phone and only listen to music on a low setting (so you can hear traffic be aware of your surroundings.)

Even jogging or walking around the block once is a great. You’re mind will thank you for the change of scenery.

Bring your confidence.

Bring your confidence – this is about you feeling great about yourself.

Don’t let anyone bring you do or make you feel ashamed. Get off of Kylie Jenner’s Snapchat, that’s not real life.
